Joker Joe | Laughin' Les | Titterin' Tone | Cacklin' Caz | Amusin' Az |
For one night only ... "I'm getting a band together for my 50th birthday party" says Joe, "do you fancy playing bass?". Well I hadn't picked up my bass guitar for close on to 15 years, and I'd only just started to play the odd bit of acoustic guitar again recently. "Of course, why not." Secretly it was a dream of mine to play live in a "proper" band, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. |

Joe, it turns out is an accomplished lead guitar player, and can play just about anything. He'd recruited Tony, a Hertfordshire publican, with one foot still firmly in his musical past. Tony was probably the most experienced of all of us and plays with an ease I could only dream of. Next was Joe's brother-in-law Les. A lovely singing voice with a laid back style. Finally, on drums, playing for the first time outside of her bedroom, but ably keeping up with guys three times as old as her, is Caroline, Les's daughter. Over a couple of months, we got together a set list, and rehearsed with only a modicum of seriousness. Till, finally the night came ... and went. This is the result. |

Due to earlier problems, I've now hosted these three videos on YouTube.
Searchers: When you Walk in the Room
Thin Lizzy: Whiskey in the Jar
Jimi Hendrix: Hey Joe |
Sadly, the clips are rather poor quality, and I don't have any of the rolling stones stuff we did, or my favourite, Sunny Afternoon. Hopefully, Tony will have the full video so I'll see what I can grab from there. |

Last but not least, a big thank you to Kirk for the logo on the drums (and also to Tony, who printed it and had the cards idea in the first place).
