Supermoon

Ouch!

You know, I blame the supermoon – whoops, closer than I thought!

This whole supermoon thing is ridiculous media hype. No ordinary person could possibly tell the difference. The perceived increase in size of the moon is so small it amounts to just a few minutes of arc (we can only resolve 1 minute of arc with our naked eye). And even if you could accurately measure the difference, you would have to have a previous image of the moon to compare it with.
And, they know this – they say “the super moon would be best viewed when it is low in the sky” ! That is called atmospheric lensing and it makes the moon *appear* bigger. NOTHING to do with it being in perigee and closer to the earth. NOTHING. Damn it.
